PianOrquestra


 
Hailed by critics as one of the most innovative groups in the present scenario of Brazilian instrumental music, the PianOrquestra stands out for originality and quality of work that involves four pianists, a percussionist and a prepared piano.

With gloves, sticks, guitar picks, nylon string, rubber sandals and pieces of metal, wood, plastic and fabric specially constructed for the group, PianOrquestra explores the infinite possibilities of timbres and sonorities produced by the piano, turning the instrument his own orchestra.
The work is the result of a long search that began at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, based on the techniques of prepared piano and piano by John Cage popularized extended at the beginning of the century. The techniques are applied in a playful and creative, resulting in a pioneering work in Brazilian popular music, with great comunication with audiences of all ages.
The artistic direction of PianOrquestra has devoted pianist Claudio Dauelsberg, which appears next to the Marina Spoladore pianists, Alison Davis and Gisele Santana, percussionist and Masako Tanaka. The group explores the elements of an unprecedented ethnic roots of Brazilian virtuoso interpretations, without sacrificing sensitivity, delicacy and lyricism, a repertoire that includes samba, coconut, sieve, suddenly, maracatu, among other typical Brazilian rhythms.

The show surprises and pleases the critics, the public and the music. The group has a repertoire that ranges from composers such as Tom Jobim, Bezerra da Silva, Milton Nascimento and Toninho Horta, to his own compositions in Brazilian regional rhythms.
PianOrquestra's work is the result of an intense research of the Brazilian rhythms that runs from the beginning of the coconut-based Dona Selma do Coco, through maracatu thump faces of the Crowned Lion Nation, the sieves and Cirandeiro of Rio Grande do Norte , the carters School of Samba Mangueira, suddenly, among other rhythms of Brazil.
The PianOrquestra has delighted audiences with his strict sync performance that involves a high degree of virtuosity among the ten hands.
The sounds vary with the density, weight and texture of objects placed on the piano, especially built to obtain the desired sounds. Thus, it creates the possibility of sounds identical to a ukulele, harpsichord, bass, opossum, fiddle, and a variety of percussive sounds. The show contains interactive moments with the public participation sessions on strong rhythmic as well as explore playful and lyricism.
After the concerts, the audience is invited to a guided tour, where group members introduce viewers to the world of piano, showing that its size is much broader than just the keys and sounding board.
